Saturday, Sept. 11, 7:30pm - Chile & Argentina Wines

Post date: Aug 22, 2010 6:48:08 PM

The last vestiges of summer are fading and the reality of battling schools buses on the long slow crawl to the rotary is just setting in. Time for some great wine from the Southern Hemisphere to put me back into the optimistic spirit of Spring and Summer.

On September 11, ABNN will host the first wine tasting event of the year as we celebrate the wines of South America. The wines for this evening will all be crowd pleasers and budget pleasers. Too often we find wines we love that we can only afford on special occasions. This is not so with the extraordinary values from Argentina and Chile.

Laura Lunardo will host the event at her home, 718 Burroughs Road, Boxborough MA.

We will begin the festivities at 7:30pm and encourage you to bring a wine friendly appetizer to share. The tasting will include a sampling of well-known varietals, but the real focus will be on the two grapes that these Andean nations have become famous for – Malbec and Carmenere. I hope you will find the highlight of the evening to be the tasting of Carmenere. I've dug deep in my cellar to find some of the best examples of Carmenere in all of its styles. The fee will be $20 per person and as always, there will be no charge for the non-drinking designated driver. We encourage everyone to enjoy the evening by drinking responsibly.

Please RSVP to Erik at wine@abnewcomers.org or call 978-263-0929 by Thursday, September 9.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!
